THE PRESIDENT'S XI - MATCH DETAILS - HUW JOHNS XI

THE PRESIDENT'S XI
CRICKET CLUB

v. HUW JOHNS XI
10 JUNE 1989

WON BY ONE WICKET
A HOME MATCH AT HAYDONS ROAD

An unusual match - of extreme ups and downs. The opposition recovering from a disastrous start to make a modest 114 - Rob Johnston taking 5-17 in one of the best spells ever for the Presidents - and Grass making more than half of the runs. In reply the Presidents despite a poor start looking well set and comfortable at 67-3 - Johnstone again with a top-scoring 38 - but then collapsing to Peel's four wickets in fifteen balls. The tail clung on with a valiant stand of thirty between Steve Gaymer and Laurence Worms - but too little too late - the unplayable Seery coming back to finish it off having conceded just four singles all afternoon.
