THE PRESIDENT'S XI - MATCH DETAILS - THE RINGERS

THE PRESIDENT'S XI
CRICKET CLUB

v. RINGERS
5 AUGUST 1989

WON BY EIGHT WICKETS
A HOME MATCH AT HAYDONS ROAD

Having been caught cold earlier in the summer by the Ringers the Presidents were out for revenge - and a strong bowling performance carried them through. Three early wickets to Rob Ashworth - and then David Doyle with a sparkling four-for-eighteen and Dave Sawtell with three-for-nine mopped up the rest - not a single extra given away. Only Marks offered resistance with an outstanding personal contribution of fifty of the sixty-six runs scored.

Paul Joyce went cheaply as we replied - as did Rob Johnston after biffing two fours - but Henry Macdonald and Rob Raeburn saw us safely home in pretty quick time.

Rob Ashworth rounded off his afternoon by hitting an undefeated eighty in a ten-over beer match (six sixes, seven fours).
