WON BY ONE WICKET
AN AWAY MATCH IN DULWICH

An extraordinary match - the Presidents (having lost by just three runs the day before) turning up with just eight players, who nonetheless managed to rattle through the opposition. Phil Crossley took four wickets in five balls. And Laurence Worms, Alasdair Moore and Dave Sawtell chipped in with two each. The opposition all out for forty-five.

But the match was not over yet. Davidson had taken four for one at the end of his fourth over. At 31-7 the Presidents had run out of players, but a generous offer to let the lowest scoring players bat again kept the match alive. Laurence, who had not yet got his pads off, was sent out to do better than before. Taking advantage of an inexplicable decision to take Davidson off, he made 13 to level the scores - but was then caught trying to hit the winning run. Hamilton, who had doggedly resisted on nought since coming in at 30-6 finally fell soon after. The scores remained level on 45-9. A last-gasp four from Phil Crossley finally saw us home.

One of our closest ever matches - extras top-scored for both sides.
