WON BY ONE WICKET

Our old foes Abdul Aziz at Haydons Road - a miserable day and the match reduced to twenty-five overs a side. But as close as close can be. Abdul win the toss and elect to bat - and they begin well, with opener Luck contributing 33 - comfortably the highest score of the match. But the Presidents bowl well - and Will Lake and Steve Blair coming on in mid innings both have fine spells. Steve Blair's 3-6 off five overs turns the game the Presidents' way and Abdul end on 101-7.

The Presidents reply, Keith Willison off the mark with a boundary off the second ball. But only an extra is added before he is trapped leg-before in the fourth over. Carey Ollerenshaw is rapidly away with a two and and four. Guy Martin warms to his task with a couple of boundaries, but both batsmen depart with the score on 29. The pace stalls and at the ten-over mark, it's 33-3. Three more wickets fall in the next five overs and at that point a score of 48-6 is not looking good - although Clive Lewis is still there doing it in singles. Laurence Worms, Dave Sawtell and Steve Blair all manage to contribute a shot or two and with two overs to go it's 96-9 - Clive still hanging in and Will Lake confident. A two off his first ball - another two off the next - the 100 is up - dot-ball, dot-ball, dot-ball - the nerves stretch - but the final ball of the penultimate over is despatched for four and the Presidents have scraped home.
