THE PRESIDENT'S XI - MATCH REPORT - RINGERS

THE PRESIDENT'S XI
CRICKET CLUB

v. THE RINGERS
5 JULY 1997

WON BY FIVE WICKETS

A raw day - and our lowest-scoring match ever. Conditions all in favour of the bowlers, but still an outstanding performance. Ed Lake blew away the Ringers' top order with 4-8, Gordon Sheridan rolled over the tail with 4-4 and the Presidents did not concede a single boundary. The miserly two extras were just enough to take the Ringers past 30 runs.

The Ringers' bowling and fielding was almost as tight - Patel 2-5 and Watts 2-3, but Steve Blair carried us almost to victory with his 19 - the only batsman to reach double figures in the match. Will Thorogood then emerged to make a winning 8 not out. Remarkable day - remarkable result.
