LOST BY 28 RUNS

A match at Haydons Road against the Rosslyn Park occasionals, well marshalled by Will Thorogood. Curious ebbs and flows as the Rosslyn Park innings raced away, with the hundred coming up in the twenty-first over for just three wickets down. Then the Presidents had a good spell - Steve Blair coming on late to grab four cheap wickets, with Laurence Worms finally nailing the free-scoring Bishop with his second ball and trapping Muller with his next. But then it slipped away again and powerful hitting (mainly from Sharpe) brought a flurry of fifty-five runs off the last five.

A daunting target of 195 to chase down - but a good opening stand of thirty-nine between Keith Willison and Ed Lake gave hope. At 101-4 after twenty overs all was still possible, but although several players got in, no-one was able to go on to get the big score we needed. Dave Sawtell was the pick of the batsmen, but Sharpe and Lee with three wickets apiece left us some way short.
