The Presidents under strength and forced to make up numbers with occasionals - some of whose names we never did quite manage to collect. The tone of the match was set by the score after five overs - one run for two wickets. Leonard reeled off four straight maidens and the Presidents were struggling. Mike Edwards biffed a defiant three fours before becoming Leonard's second victim. The middle order was entirely undone by the guile of Worley - 3-4 off his six overs. Some late determination from Clive Lewis and Mohammed - but the only remarkable thing was that after thirty-five overs the Presidents still had wickets in hand. A paltry 86 - twelve maiden overs in the innings. But nothing if not game. Will Lake opened up with a maiden in reply. Two successive maidens from Laurence Worms at the other end. And then Will Lake tries to win it single-handed with a magnificent spell of 4-25 - valiant, fighting, but not enough. The first five wickets have gone cheaply, but Davis and Perry seize the initiative and smash Addul home in pretty rapid time. All over for the season. | |||||||
